iPad

A teleprompter for iPad, with text you can read from a distance.

The script scrolls as you speak, in type sized for a stand or a rig. Turn the iPad whichever way you like, or keep the script beside another app.

Download on the App Store 6 free takes. iPad, iPadOS 16 or later.

Large text, and a mirror for the rig

On an iPad, new scripts start at 64 pt, large enough to read from a rig or a stand. You can set the text anywhere from 24 to 120 pt. For a beam-splitter glass, Mirror flips the text, and on an iPad it is one setting for the whole device.

Any orientation, beside another app

Wispim works in all four orientations, so the iPad can sit whichever way your stand holds it. It also runs in Split View, Slide Over and Stage Manager, where the script shares the screen with another app.

A keyboard runs the take

With a hardware keyboard, Space pauses and resumes the take. Before it starts, ⌘↩ opens it in Full screen and ⌥⌘↩ in the floating window.

Voice, Sound or Constant

Voice follows the words you say, Sound moves while it hears you talk, and Constant scrolls at a speed you set. Voice following works in every language your iPad can recognise. Each script opens at the last speed you set.

The floating window on iPad

The floating window works on iPad in the same three shapes: Wide, Tall and Strip, a thin band two lines deep. It stays on top of other apps, and nothing inside it responds to touch.

What is free, and what Pro adds

The free app gives you 6 prompter takes and unlimited scripts. Pro removes the take limit and adds import from TXT, Markdown, PDF, DOCX and RTF. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple Account.

Wispim for iPad needs iPadOS 16 or later. It comes from the same App Store listing as the iPhone app and the Mac app.

Questions

Which iPads does Wispim run on?

Any iPad with iPadOS 16 or later. Wispim for iPad is the same app as on iPhone, from the same App Store listing.

Can I put the iPad in a teleprompter rig?

Yes. New scripts start at 64 pt for reading from a rig, and Mirror flips the text for a beam-splitter glass. On an iPad, Mirror is one setting for the whole device.

Do I have to buy Pro again for the iPad?

One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac, as long as they are signed in to the same Apple Account.

Does my speech leave my iPad?

Recognition runs on your iPad where your language supports it. For other languages your iPad sends the audio to Apple to convert it to text, and the app tells you before and during the take. Your scripts, their titles, the transcripts and the audio are never sent to us. The privacy policy has the detail.
