BIGVU’s home page sums itself up as “Scripts in your tone, teleprompter recording or avatars, AI edits, one-click posting, and analytics”. The prompter is one station on a production line that starts at a blank page and ends at a published post with a chart next to it. Wispim is that one station on its own. It has no writer, camera, editor or publisher, and no account.
Everything around the recording is one job: writing, subtitling, resizing, scheduling. If that is what slows you down, BIGVU is aimed squarely at you and Wispim will not help. If the recording itself is fine and the only broken part is that you keep glancing down at your notes, Wispim is a much smaller thing to add to a setup you already like.

One prompter holds the camera; the other stays out of its way
BIGVU records you: you read inside their app or their browser tool, and the file comes out of their pipeline, which is also what makes the captions, the brand kit and the one-click posting possible. The cost is that your footage is shot by their recorder, under the limits their plan sets.
Wispim never takes the camera, so that trade never comes up. The script sits in a floating window on top of whatever you already shoot with, and the file lands where it always did, in your app at your resolution and length, with no plan limit. What you give up is the other end of BIGVU’s pipeline: nothing captions, cuts, brands or posts the result for you. Two answers to the eye-contact problem
BIGVU’s pricing page lists “AI Eye Contact Fix” among its AI edits, applied to footage after the fact. Wispim’s answer comes earlier and is simpler. Keep the words close enough to the lens that you never look away, and let them move at your pace so you are not chasing a scroll bar. Neither is obviously right. Correction can rescue a take that is already shot, including one where you genuinely were reading off a laptop; voice following only helps if you set it up before you press record. If you are the sort of person who shoots one take on a tripod in a kitchen, the earlier fix tends to be less work.
Where BIGVU does more
BIGVU does more in most rows of the table. Their site lists an Android app and a browser tool that needs no download, so a mixed-device team can use its broader product suite. Wispim runs on the iPhone, the iPad and the Mac. On any other laptop, its separate browser teleprompter can serve for a simple read, but it has no team workspace or app sync. Their pricing page lists a team workspace with roles, plus SSO and 2FA higher up, which is the difference between a tool for one person and a tool for a marketing department. They caption, dub, cut and post; Wispim does none of that. And their prices are published today, with a free tier whose terms you can read before you install. Wispim also publishes launch prices in USD; the local amount appears in the App Store.
Who should pick BIGVU
Pick BIGVU if the video is a means to an end and you want the whole chain in one place: a first draft written for you, a recording with captions burned in, a brand kit so every clip matches, and the post scheduled without a second app. Pick it if your phone runs Android, if a colleague needs their own seat, if you record at a desk in a browser, or if the job is editing footage you already have.
Pick Wispim if the rest of that chain is already handled or already unwanted. You write your own words, the edit happens elsewhere or not at all, the post goes up by hand, and the single unsolved part is that you cannot read and look at the lens at the same time. That is a much narrower problem than the one BIGVU exists to solve, and one small app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac is the proportionate answer to it. Is Wispim a BIGVU alternative if I need captions, editing and posting?
No. Wispim writes nothing, edits nothing, adds no captions, applies no branding and posts nowhere. It shows a script that follows your voice and it stops there. BIGVU’s own site lists AI script generation, auto-captions, B-roll, a brand kit, one-click posting and analytics, so if those are the reason you were looking, Wispim does not replace BIGVU. It only replaces its teleprompter.
Can I run Wispim’s floating window while recording inside the BIGVU app?
The floating window stays on top of other apps, so in principle yes, but BIGVU is not one of the apps this was tested against. Camera, Instagram and TikTok are. BIGVU has its own prompter, so you would be stacking one script over another. And if the app underneath takes the microphone, the text holds on the word you reached, a note says “Mic busy”, and reading carries on from that word when the microphone comes back. That is always on and has no setting.
Does BIGVU’s teleprompter follow your voice the way Wispim’s does?
Their mobile teleprompter page describes adjustable scroll speed: “Adjust scrolling speed so it matches how you naturally speak”. It also lists “Auto-pause when you stop speaking”, where the prompter detects a pause and stops. Scrolling to the specific words you said is not stated on their site.
