Wispim in one line

Wispim is a teleprompter app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows whose script follows your voice.

Wispim in one paragraph

Wispim is a teleprompter whose script follows your voice. It scrolls as you speak and waits when you pause, so you can look at the lens instead of down at your notes. On iPhone and iPad the script can sit in a floating window on top of the app you film with, such as Camera, Instagram or TikTok. On a Mac or a Windows PC it sits in a panel above your call. On iPhone, you can also record video with your script in front of you, and the videos are saved to Photos. There is no account and no sign-up.

Platforms

  • iPhone with iOS 16 or later.
  • iPad with iPadOS 16 or later.
  • Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
  • Windows: a 64-bit PC with Windows 10 version 2004 or later, Windows 11 included.
  • Android: in closed testing on Google Play.

iPhone, iPad and Mac share one App Store listing. Wispim for Windows is in the Microsoft Store, a separate store and a separate purchase.

What it does

Voice follows the words you say, Sound moves while you speak in any language, and Constant scrolls at a fixed speed like a classic teleprompter. In Voice, the text waits when you pause and scrolls back when you repeat a line.

The floating window stays on top of other apps in three shapes: Wide, Tall and Strip, a thin band two lines deep. It snaps to a corner the way Picture in Picture does. Five voice commands run the take: pause, continue, back a sentence, start over and go to the end.

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, recognition runs on the device where the language supports it. For other languages the device sends the audio to Apple to convert it to text, and the language picker marks those languages before you start. Scripts, audio and transcripts never reach us.

Languages

  • The app: 20 languages on iPhone and iPad, 16 on Mac and Windows.
  • Voice following: every language the iPhone can recognise, 60+ locales on current iOS.
  • Voice commands: 10 languages on iPhone, iPad and Mac, 4 on Windows.

Free and Pro

The free app gives you 6 prompter takes, every prompter feature and unlimited scripts. A take is any start of the prompter, full screen or in the floating window. Pro removes the take limit and adds import from TXT, Markdown, PDF, DOCX and RTF.

Pro is $9.99 a month, $69.99 a year or $199.99 once, in US dollars; the App Store shows the price in your currency. On Windows, Pro is sold in the Microsoft Store at the same prices, and Pro bought in one store works only in the apps from that store.

Who makes it
